Little Snoring church

Little Snoring church
St Andrew is remarkable for having a tower that is detached from the rest of the church. The two sit together on a mound above the road. The south side of the graveyard has been largely cleared of headstones, but there are some fine 18th and 18th century ones that line the path.
The round tower is doubly attractive; not only is it free standing, but it is topped by a little 18th century conical cap with tiny gables and a spike.

There are about 60 round tower churches in Norfolk, Nick. I have only found 6 so far! ;-)

Thank you, Jaap. Unfortunately I didn't have time to go inside.

I was only allowed 2 stops on the way back from the seaside, Rosa, and thankfully I waited en route to stop here.

A zippy minister indeed, Ian. The village up the road is not so lucky with its preacher. It's called 'Great Snoring', ;-)

Thank you, Schussentaler. The round towers are not very typical, but they are fairly common in Norfolk
