A Bank Holiday is just that a day when the high street banks close. It makes little difference these days of course with online banking.
So what to do today.?
I could
Catch a train and travel about an hour north to a miniature railway and ride to the top of a very scenic valley and watch a waterfall cascading down the river before a pub lunch and a spot of people watching,
or
.Catch a bus to Furness Abbey and roam the ruins and woodland, betore a pub lunch of course
or
There is a large car boot sale just of the bridge and I have a nephew who has a stall there,a visit to him to catch up on family news and a hot dog from the burger barrow would be good
Or how about a walk a mile or so north of here and watch the local cricket team.I have some old friends up there and it would be nice to chew the fat with them.

That is all before you apply the rules for Bank holidays. Firstly the trains aren't running Bank Holidays are for repairig tracks and bridges and secondly our usual 12 minute bus timetable is replaced by an hourly one
So with the rail trip and Furness Abbey ruled out that left 2 within walking distance. This is where the other rule of Bank Holiday Britain comes in.
The rain shall fall heavyly and steadily in daylight hours which it is doing now
So what's left? well for me it has been drying cats so they can go out and get wet again, they seem to enjoy but I would much rather be chewing the fat with old mates and watching cricket
