Sorting out my built in wardrobe today to make room for my winter woolies I discovered this photo,
It was taken at a charity bash in a local nightclub. It was held by the landlord and landlay of our local. Most pubs in town have a charity they support, ours was Guide dogs for the blind. Fund raising events were held throughout the year and one big bash at the end of it.
The club gave us the room for free but they did all right with the takings half of which were donated to the cause and local entertainers also appeared free of charge. I good night was had by all and the Guide dogs were better off to the tune of £600 a good sum of money in the 70s. Sadly the pub is now gone swallowed up in a town centre revamp but memories of those days live on.
