Another lovely morning here and a walk to mother's was on the cards. I set off over the bridge and onto the channel side walkway, round the first bend Black Combe came into view looking colourful in the morning sunlight.

I put the camera on full zoom and took a snap of the big climb summit a mile of steady climbing away,it doesn't get any lower over the years.

I climbed up to level 2 and at the end of it weighed my options,
Turned right for a flat run through town.

Or up the steep steps heading towards the climb.

I chose the latter and a few yards along came my most important choice.
Turn right and skirt the climb halfway up,

or keep climbing to and over the big hill and risk back trouble.

With good weather forecast all week I decided the climb was too risky, I didn't want to spend the week on my massage chair so I turned right.
I was rewarded with a chance to snap this prickly fella, cute ain't he?

You can see how much lower this route is,that's the top path

but there was still a few slopes to navigate.

The views deep into the Lakeland Fells were well worth the walk.

Once off the hill I took a look at the big climb section 2,

a look was all it needed for me to turn away and walk under the railway bridge and on the mile or so to mother's.
I was sound in wind if not body when I arrived but I had a good visit with lots to talk about as always. I decided to walk along the flat to get the bus home a distance of .7 of a mile on the ped. I rang Ellen and asked it she fancied a chippy on the way home which she did and we dined on a lovely portion of Jumbo sausage and chips for me and chips with gravy for Ellen. Not healthy but very welcome after the walk
