Fortis Alberta Municipal System Purchase Rejected

Fortis Alberta offered 10.2 Million Dollars to purchase the City of Cardston's electric distribution system and the city declined the offer. The people living in the city said that they would rather have their own electric system than be part of the Fortis system. So now there are three 25kV to 4.16kV transformers located around the city to connect to Fortis instead. This all happened last year.

Back when the preferred source of power was the individual steam plant, the smaller munis couldn't get out of the business fast enough (unless there was an overall socialist leaning within the town), but today, it is plenty tough for any of the IOUs to try to buy any of the remaining munis, unless the muni is in a desperate situation.

OTP's last attempt to buy a muni was badly botched by some unnamed employee in the HQ office changing the terms of the contract without prior approval from the Wrights (who were still at the helm) or the municipal council in question.
