I was deeply saddened this morning to read of the death of Leonard Nimoy – aka Mr Spock in Star Trek. I’ve been a closet Trekkie since the series started, and although quite young when it first came to UK TV, I was a devoted fan from the outset and have seen every single episode and film since.

When my son was being born, they had Star Trek on the TV to try and distract me from what was a long drawn out birth. I often tease him that he made me miss half the episode :) When my son was little, he'd sit on my lap and watch Star Trek, and loved the beginning part best, when the spaceship whooshes across the screen.

Nimoy wasn’t a young man, I know, but he’ll be sorely missed by many I’m sure. Live long and prosper.

Ah, so giving birth to your son was your first personal experience of "Beaming someone down".

I also saw every episode on Danish TV, it was a very popular Series for both young and old children like myself..

The series was recently mentioned on a BBC Talk show by David Mitchel telling of how he used to pretend to use the "Star Trek Communicator" as an eight year old boy, it was on the Rob Bryden show called "Would I Lie to You". His story was in fact "True"

Yes Spok will be missed and remembered by many.

I think Star Trek has become a long term favourite Fran I see one channel is showing the original series at the moment

Micky - yes, digitally remastered, and yes I watch them, again :)
One of the best episodes was when Mr Spock fell in love and actually smiled and laughed - a rare sight though it didn't last; some kind of virus - don't quite recall.

It was the one where the flowers shot spoors them. Which changed them. Kirk had to make him mad to get it out of his system. There's also the one where he goes back in time to what seemed to be almost ice age and meets a woman there. He returns to his early Vulcan self where emotions were not restricted and falls in love with her too..

Well that's odd. I try to write at least every couple of weeks. I think I may know what the problem is. I've seen before if you add someone as acquaintance
(which is what I did as we are) it may limit what a person sees. I'm going to upgrade you and see if that works. Please let me know.
