For those new to my page, I don’t live on a ship; it’s just a bit of fun.

As regular readers will know, the Cabin Boy and computers don’t seem to get on. He’s very clever – well I would say that – and knows quite a bit about IT and computers; however they don’t seem to like him. He used to have a lovely laptop, but that died the death last year. Since then he bought a PC off an online company, well that died and we can’t get hold of them. On further inspection a number of customers have had similar issues and are pursuing them via Trading Standards. I could do this, but life’s too short and we don’t need or want the hassle. So, he bought a PC off a reputable company online but it arrived broken. We had a full refund.

Recently we ordered a PC from PC World and I broke out the lifeboat and collected it last night. We plugged everything in, in the Cabin Boys state room (he wishes) however the PC went straight to the BIOS. Odd that. It seems they didn’t install the Windows OS. We had the disk, so I popped it in and tried that. I used to do this another life time ago, how hard can it be? The PC didn’t have any drivers, so wouldn’t install the OS. After a 15 minute call to the store, it was time to break out the lifeboat again and take it back to the store. It appears that the manufacturer built the PC and then boxed it. No drivers. No OS. No use. Again, I had a full refund.

The Cabin Boy has decided to forget it for now and continue to use my PC, which is one he used to own many years ago. I bought it from him, and now he has it back again. They were obviously meant to be together… LMAO

The Ship’s Dog was very excited by all this toing and froing, and spent most of the evening absolutely shattered from all the excitement. I broke out the rum – what else do you expect a pirate to drink – and I had a short, whilst the Cabin Boy diluted his with some coke. I told him if he’s going to drink my shots, he’ll have to pay me more rent; he thinks I’m joking!

After some rain and high winds, the ship is once again becalmed and we even had 2 sunny days recently. I hung all the bedding from the rigging, and was well pleased when it dried in good time. A quick iron to take any residual damp out and they’ll be fine.

The trainee pirates are off this week due to half term, and work is nice and quiet and I’m actually getting some work done. I had a meeting today. Let’s just say that’s an hour out of my life that I won’t get back. I have another meeting tomorrow which I’m hoping will be more productive.

Enjoy the rest of the week; counting down to the weekend now. May you have calm seas and a following wind.
