For various reasons, some too stupid to be believable, my colleague and I have to carry kit across the campus. This week it’s been no fun, and more than once, I’ve had to carry the kit under my coat so that it doesn’t get wet. On Wednesday we came across some zombies in the corridor. They were trying to pass themselves off as students but they had that thousand-yard stare and weren’t to be moved from their shuffling gait along the corridor. We had to take a slight detour, put the kit on a table, and wait for them to safely pass us before we could carry on. Not content with a safe delivery, we were then held hostage by staff and students alike whilst they grilled us on why some kit isn’t working and why downloads weren’t working on their home computer. We don’t work for this team, we’re just doing them a favour however it took us almost an hour to make our escape. On the plus side, if I get moved to the ‘new’ campus, it’s all in one unit which will negate having to carry kit outside. I have to see the positive where I can…

I’m taking Friday off this week so I can buy myself a Birthday cake and a bottle of bubbly. It’s my Birthday present to myself. Not good for you, but hey, it’s one day a year. A friend of mine, one I don’t see very often, gets very depressed when his Birthday comes around and he hates it if I send him a card. I don’t get depressed about it; it’s a reason to celebrate. I’m still here. I’m still going strong. And it’s one year closer to retirement age lol. I’m only half joking when I say I had my ‘mid-life’ crisis when I turned 30. It was a bad time for me. Since then, things have only been getting better with just the occasional minor hiccup. So whilst I’m still young at heart, still have all my marbles (well most of them!) and can still enjoy my Birthday, I’m going to do just that. Not saying which day, or how old; I intend to have a 3 day Birthday weekend and enjoy it.

I’m popping in to see one of my sister’s tomorrow. She’s made me some fingerless gloves so I can keep my hands warm and still type, and some boot things. Apparently they’re like socks, with thick soles, and you wear them in the house to keep your feet warm. Sounds great! My friend is taking me to lunch at the weekend or maybe cake and coffee; depends on the price. We’re going to an Italian restaurant and they don’t post prices on their website. Scary! Their coffee is amazing, and their cakes look so good (or bad lol) so we’ll play it by ear.

The weekend will soon be here, have a great one; I intend to :)
