This week, I've been in an ugly mood:

Centrica, which owns British Gas, have posted half yearly profits of £1.3 billion.

Shell earnings have topped $11.5 billion.

BP profits are shown as $6.2 billion. These are not typos!

In the UK, food and fuel poverty has more than trippled in a year.

Hundreds of thousands in the UK could have their gas/electricity cut off due to being unable to pay the exorbitant bills.

Longevity under 12 years of Tory rule is reversing with many spending longer in chronic ill health in later life.

Meanwhile, Sunak, the wannabe next PM backs the return of grammar schools. Oh, that will solve all our problems!

When I worked in a university, my manager called me a socialist as if that were a bad thing. I believe everyone has a right to an affordable roof over their heads, warmth, and enough food to eat. If that makes me a socialist, then I'm proud of that 'label.' It's painfully clear that the Tories do not share my views. They only care about their wealthy buddies, and who can help fund or further their career.

It's totally wrong IMO that these companies are making these obscene profits whilst the rest of us won't be able to afford to heat our homes this winter, and are having to cut back where we can to make our budgets stretch ever further. I'd ask: How do they sleep at night, but I know the answer: they sleep very well in a nice big house that is warm enough, and they have plenty to eat.

As I said, I'm in an ugly mood...
