This past week has been a mixed bag. The supermarket I work at is in the habit of moving managers around so that they don't get 'too comfortable.' Our store manager left some time ago, and it was sad to see them go. This week, for reasons unknown to me at least, they've come back. Yay! I didn't much care for the replacement and they very obviously had favourites, so it's great that the 'old' manager has returned.

Wednesday, I was vacuuming the ceiling in the hallway, trying to get rid of cobwebs. A definite down-side of high ceilings; the spiders love them! Anyway, it was going well until I looked down, lost my balance, and fell over Henry. I cursed rather loudly and my son came rushing downstairs to find me sat on the hallway floor waiting for my head to stop spinning. D*mn vertigo! Not had it that bad in years. My leg, almost immediately, started to bruise and I have a big gash too from Henry's handle. The bruise is now about 3 inches long by 2 inches wide and a lovely shade lol. Could have been worse...

Friday morning, after a nice lie-in, I was watching a video of a mummy elephant and her calf being rescued from a muddy ditch. Honestly, it brought tears of joy to my eyes when they finally managed to rescue them both. I'm a soppy soul at heart.

These next few days we're on a Red heat alert for this area. Good grief! I worked a 7 hour shift on Saturday, that was hot, and a 6 hour shift on Sunday which was even hotter. On my way home, I could see it was 27C which is hot for the UK, and set to be even hotter on Monday and Tuesday. I'm fervently hoping the rain forecast for Wednesday happens.

I had planned to call this blog WooHoo as I should now be on leave for a total of 9 days. However, I was asked to work Monday, just a 4 hour shift as overtime, and I agreed. Seriously, I'm stashing as much cash as possible for when my gas and electric bills more than double in September, then go up again in October. The amount we're being charged at this time is outragious, especially when some of them are recording massive profits. Of course they have massive profits, they're ripping us off! Brief rant... LMAO

Next month my car insurance and breakdown payments are due, swiftly followed by the car tax. We don't get paid monthly, we get paid every 4 weeks, so every year we have 13 payments. I ensure that each month covers the bills, so that the 13th payment covers the car bills. Perfect!

Well, that's it. Working Monday as mentioned above. I just hope they don't try and make me stay. I want to be home safely before the day gets too hot.

Take care if you're out and about over the next couple of days. Keep hydrated, keep covered, and keep safe and well.
