Well, that’s another week over with. I managed to do almost 4 hours overtime; it should have been more, though the one day the vans were fully packed, and we finished hours earlier than usual. The extra overtime would have been nice, though I was tired, so I’m not too bothered, and I’ve picked up an extra shift for next week. I was supposed to be on leave for 9 days though they were desperate, and I need the money, so a deal was struck lol. A colleague jokingly called me a sucker. Strange… I’ll still have Monday off, work one morning of overtime, then have 7 days off so no big deal.

I got fed up with waiting for my manager to sort out lighter duties for me, so I spoke to his manager, and within a few days, I’d been contacted by occupational health regarding a telephone consult which I’ll have in the next few days or so. I’ve also been alerted about a vacancy at my store that could work out well for me, so I’ve asked my supervisor to put my name forward for it. No idea what hours are involved, I’m just hopeful they won’t be too many hours less. I’m not sure I could take much of a pay cut. Watch this space!

Still absolutely no news about a date for my X-ray! To compound matters, the hospital I’d need to attend has now declared a ‘Major Incident’ due to Covid. I’ll never get an X-ray at this rate. OK, this is selfish, I know, though my GP suspects I have a broken bone, and one month on, I still haven’t had an X-ray. Covid aside, I find this shocking to be honest. Meanwhile, I can’t do my job properly, can’t sleep properly, and I’m in frequent pain with no let-up in sight; no treatment until they know for sure what the issue is. I’m sure there are many thousands in a similar or worse situation.

Weather has been up and down. Freezing one day with hail and icy conditions, around 4C the next with torrential downpours. It can’t make up its mind! I don’t like winter.

Not much else going on. Eating ‘comfort’ food in the way of pie and mash – I adore mashed potato lol, hearty lentil pasta bake, the occasional curry – mild for me, just food that warms and satisfies. The Mediterranean diet may be all the rage, and may be good for you, but when it’s cold and wet, it doesn’t appeal to me one little bit. Now, if I lived somewhere warm and sunny then I’d be a big fan.

OK, enough waffling. Take care, be safe, try and keep warm and dry.
