Peggy Lee's first Decca record was the original "Be Anything (But Be Mine)" (Irving Gordon) in 1952. The single peaked at number twenty-six. Irving Gordon also wrote the standards, "Unforgettable", "Me, Myself And I", "Delaware" by Perry Como, "Mama From The Train" and "Mister And Mississippi" for Patti Page.
Crooner Eddy Howard and his orchestra with the Jack Halloran Choir reached number seven with his version of "Be Anything (But Be Mine)" later that year.
In 1964 Connie Francis (Franconero) returned to the charts with "Be Anything (But Be Mine)" when it charted at number twenty-five on Billboard's Top One Hundred and nine on the Adult Contemporary charts as her last top forty outing.
