A small section of sea front wall art at Weston Super Mare showing stones painted by local artist Kate Poole, The stones on the left depict the at present dilapidated Birnbeck Pier and across the bottom the famous steam ship, m/s Balmoral which has sailed from Weston for many years. A pleasant mid-February afternoon at Burnham on Sea on the Somerset coast, The low tide has emptied Bridgwater Bay leaving the sandy 7-mile beaches to the dog walkers and sand castle builders. The image also features Britain's shortest pier, built in 1911 at just 100ft (ca. 30 metres) long. Shot in 16.9 format, so a large view please,,,,,,, HFF and a great weekend to all!

On the left the Isle of Seil which is one of the Slate Islands* and across the fast flowing narrows is the mainland at Clachan. The short pier and slipway in the image foreground was I assume for the ferry which ran before a bridge was built in the late 18th century, This is now known as the Bridge over the Atlantic. *The Slate Islands are an island group in the Inner Hebrides, lying immediately off the west coast of Scotland, north of Jura and southwest of Oban. The main islands are Seil, Easdale, Luing, Shuna, Torsa and Belnahua. Slates quarried here were exported all over the world, HWW to one and all.

A sturdy fence and very sturdy bollards on the South Pier at Ayr, both this pier and the breakwater on the other side of the harbour entrance have navigation lights but with totally differing structures while the land mass in the distance across the Firth of Clyde is the isle of Arran, The breakwater is put to good use by a colony of Cormorants. Ayr is the county town of Ayrshire, the administration center of South Ayrshire, and Ayr is the 15th largest settlement in Scotland. Wish you HFF and a nice weekend, but please stay safe

After days of constant rain silt from the many rivers that flow into the Bristol Channel has turned the water brown. However the colour suits the dereliction that is Birnbeck Island and it's pier that links it to the mainland. The good news is that a group which includes North Somerset Council, Historic England and the RNLI,who were forced to abandon the lifeboat station on safety grounds in 2008. have now bought the whole complex with a view to restoration, but what a job that will be. (pier built in 1867) The island of Flat Holm complete with lighthouse (rear left) and the coast of South Wales in the far distance. Large please, Wish you HFF and a safe weekend.

The boat is registered in Falmouth, Cornwall but the hull looks to have had a hard life it's seen here out of the water many miles up the coast at West Bay Dorset, Need to view large for detail please.

Waves disturb the sand and sediments' as they reach the sea defences, another midsummer image from Bridgwater Bay at Burnham on Sea, The higher lighthouse on the horizon just left of center and lower Lighthouse in pip, before GPS entrance to the two rivers was achevied by lining up both beacons which then indicated the deep water channels, Large please

The lower lighthouse on the shores of Bridgwater Bay at Burnham On Sea, The light is needed to keep vessels away from the Gore Sands which has claimed many ships and where wrecks are often exposed at low tides, The town including the shortest pier in the country can be seen in the distance, Large please.
