Brean Down across the bay from the Prince Consort Gardens,Weston Super Mare, on a chilly spring evening, No takers for the many benches as the incoming tide brought a stiff breeze blowing in off of the Bristol Channel, HBM and a good week to all!

A cold and breezy day on this run down area at Birnbeck, Weston Super Mare, on the Somerset Coast with Brean Down as a backdrop! Plans are well ahead to start to renovate the area. HBM and a good week!

A late afternoon image looking west across the Bristol Channel, Brean Down on the left and the Island of Steep Holm on the right, a distant Exmoor can just be seen rear left, I prefer the image large!

A late afternoon capture with a very low tide in the bay and a view across to Brean Down from Birnbeck, Weston Super Mare, If you are able to view large note the weathered sandstone on top of the wall! Brean Down is a promontory off the coast of Somerset, England, standing 318 feet (97 m) high and extending 1+1⁄2 miles (2.5 kilometres) into the Bristol Channel at the eastern end of Bridgwater Bay, (Wikipedia) HWW to all.

Birnbeck Island and Pier.Weston Super Mare, Architects and engineers have now been appointed with work underway to make safe and eventually restore these grade 2 listed structures, The RNLI will also progress designs for their new lifeboat station on Birnbeck Island which will significantly improve their operational effectiveness along this busy stretch of coast. A pleasant April evening in Prince Consort Gardens, Weston Super Mare.

A strong cold wind accompanies the evening tides arrival but clear skies and low evening sun give a nice clear light. Not an attractive subject but one full of hope for a full restoration,

Another evening view this time across the bay to Brean Down from Birnbeck in Weston Super Mare.

After days of constant rain silt from the many rivers that flow into the Bristol Channel has turned the water brown. However the colour suits the dereliction that is Birnbeck Island and it's pier that links it to the mainland. The good news is that a group which includes North Somerset Council, Historic England and the RNLI,who were forced to abandon the lifeboat station on safety grounds in 2008. have now bought the whole complex with a view to restoration, but what a job that will be. (pier built in 1867) The island of Flat Holm complete with lighthouse (rear left) and the coast of South Wales in the far distance. Large please, Wish you HFF and a safe weekend.
