Captured at Carradale harbour, Kintyre, Scotland, overlooking the Kilbrannan Sound. From the harbour itself to the right of here there are views of the west coast of the Isle of Arran This must be a pleasant spot for local fishermen and visitors to the area to sit and take a break to enjoy the view. Nowadays there is still a fishing fleet working out of the harbour, largely dealing in shellfish, but from the 1830s until the second world war this was also a daily stopping point for steam boats on route from Campbeltown to Glasgow

This old boat, seen on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides has seen better days and looks as if it has been 'Put out to Grass' I have added this today as I too have 'reached the end of the line' as far as my working life is concerned and have just retired. Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset and there is snow on the hills in the distance. This is the point where the River Brue meets the River Parrett, forming part of Bridgwater Bay. There was no water by the jetty and this lone boat was left high and dry and seemed to me to be stuck in the mud.
