Weekend
John Twang75 visitsMick (Michael) Jackson issued "Weekend" (Mick Jackson - Tommy Mayer) as a single in 1978 and an album the following year. "Weekend" was covered the next year and became the last top forty hit for Wet Willie (lead vocalist Jimmy Hall and his brother Jack, Larry Berwald, Mike Duke, Theophilius Lively and Marshall Smith) when it peaked at number twenty-nine on Billboard. This was the first release from the album "Which One's Willie?".
(read more)
(read more)

What is a camera for?
Malachi O'Doherty443 visits1This is the text of a talk I gave accompanying my exhibition of Irish Landscape at Culturlann Belfast in August 2015. Photography is a new medium to me. Normally I express myself verbally or in text. I have been doing that for decades, and I have acquired an ease in doing it, and I am surprised by the differences in how I emerge as a person in the different media, verbalising and image making. Verbalising brings my cynicism forward while there is no cynicism I think in the photograph… (read more)
(read more)
(read more)
Almost forgotten ....
My Awake Gottica (m.a.g)2 comments269 visits2I've just found somewhere in an old diary, an almost forgotten paper with some notes, written in 2014 .... "Sometimes it's hard to express ourselves but we have to try, at least ... however, beyond all words there is something More !!! Ode 314 Those who don't feel this Love pulling them like a river, those who don't drink dawn like a cup of spring water or take in sunset like supper, those who don't want to change, let them sleep. This Love is beyond the study of theology,… (read more)
“Made for sharing“...
Mahatma Gandhi
Armando Taborda21 comments1093 visits5I learned the resistance's technique with Mahatma Gandhi at the sacred river banks where famine swells bodies of cadavers and divine cows pasture shiny fats with big horns of knowledge. (read more)
Value For Money
Bee Orchid7 comments179 visits2Here, wind and rain has been lashing the Ship, and whilst a gentle wind is nice for swinging in a hammock, when it’s whistling around the Ship and keeping me awake, then it’s not so good. Sunday, it rained all day. It didn’t stop. Monday was slightly better, and I managed to half-dry some towels on the rigging, however Tuesday has dawned wet, again, and looks set for the day. Honestly, I think I’d rather snow than this rain; at least snow looks nice! Packing is going well, however the ‘cheap’… (read more)

Bee Orchid10 comments116 visitsFriday, I took out the lifeboat and travelled to foreign parts (England to you) to collect the Deckhand. The journey was mostly uneventful though lingering snow on the sides of the road and some flooding in nearby fields did give me some concern. In my part of Wales, it was 4C, this was at 6.30am. After 90 minutes, I joined the motorway and stopped for a comfort break at the usual place, had a little coffee, and set off again. Just as I was approaching the busiest and more complex part of my… (read more)
(read more)
Garbage Hanukkah and the Resilient Jewish Spirit
William Sutherland8 comments684 visits13Garbage Hanukkah was created from discarded hand-crafted items I found in a large plastic bag on 18 June 2017 and saved, a tiny plastic menorah found among other personal effects in the drawer of a discarded piece of furniture and broken tiles and plaster, all found on 12 November 2017. It is intended to celebrate Hanukkah, honor the resilient Jewish spirit and take a strong stand against rising anti-Semitism in the world. Accordingly the selected colors and imagery are meant to provide po… (read more)

She is Malvina Reynolds who met folksingers Pete Seeger and Earl Robinson when she was in her forties. She then studied music theory and went on to compose "Little Boxes", Turn Around", "What Have They Done To the Rain" and "Morningtown Ride".
(read more)
