I guess these must be British resident birds coming up from the west country or the near continent as those returning from Scandinavia and Russia don't arrive until June. But it a joy to see that nature is beginning to stir from Winter.

yes I can’t imagine they have travelled far it may just be Irish Sea coast areas like Ribble Estuary or Morecambe Bay

It’s a reasonable number but hope to see a larger flock soon 30-40 or more not unusual for just a short period before they spread out to claim breeding areas
