Toward the glacier
On the walk toward the Franz Josef Glacier on New Zealand's south island. Almost all the world's glaciers are in retreat - and those in New Zealand are no exceptions. For a comparison of how much, see the PiP note, copied from an information sign. Climate change at work.

It was good to have some blue sky when I reached the glacier. Best viewed large.

Looking back

Arriving
Aircraft (in note) approaching Queenstown, NZ Sth Island. The flight path between the ranges must give an exciting arrival. I'd suggest viewing large.

Taiwan lilies
Growing alongside the beach. They look great, but sadly they're weeds here (also known as Formosa lilies). Best viewed large.

The mountain and the iceberg
At the foot of Mt Cook, with the adjacent Hooker Glacier (marked with note) and associated lake. I understand the glacier extended to the photo position only a few years ago, now there's just this little iceberg.
