Contented calves

Stitched panorama on our former rural property, "Tiabunna" . Calving was timed for late winter, so the calves would be old enough to digest the new grass that began appearing in September. View large. HFF.

With the tide

With some friends, I had an enjoyable morning kayaking up a local creek on the incoming tide - then back out when the tide changed. Second shot in the note. Here's a music link. We shall be away travelling for the next few weeks (not in kayaks) :-), so my visits here will be occasional (if at all) though I may pre-load some shots to post along the way. Best wishes everyone, enjoy yourselves.

What weather awaits?

At Mt Cook. That day the weather went from bad to worse. Today made up, it was perfect and I walked to the Hooker glacier. Explored.

Tide's out

At Akaroa, originally a French settlement, with streets still named "Rue ...". Pity about the smoke, there were a few fires. Best viewed large. Explored.

Seeing the Southern Alps

Heading west from Christchurch on New Zealand's south island, it was a thrill when the Southern Alps came into clear view as we crossed the moraine surrounding the bed of the Waimakariri River.. Explored.

Looking north

Looking north on the west coast of New Zealand's South Island. Some years ago there was a curious movie called "The Piano" , set somewhere on this coast in the 1800s. Much of the story centred around a grand piano which came ashore through the waves (!) - and that gives me the excuse for this musical link to the soundtrack.
