Common pheasant

Common pheasant
When I was having a long walk with Clara (our dog), I heard a strange sound. Then I saw it: A pheasant! I was able to get as close as 20 meters away from it, any closer I didn't dare to go. For some reason Clara didn't seem to notice it in any way.

J Pierre, , Blueman, and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Not particularly, I think... www.ipernity.com/doc/serola/29178167/in/album/569003
She does "know" and smell hares. And usually becomes crazy when sees or smells one. I suppose pheasant is just something she didn't recognize as interesting. Well, and Clara is getting old. 13 years soon.

13 years !! I suppose Clara smells hares but doesn't run after anymore. My last female dog understood it was hopeless after 8 years !

Yes, that is pretty much the case with Clara as well. She has osteoarthritis, but with medication and proper nutrition she still manage to take even longer walks, when she is on a good mood.

o0o lucky for the pheasant then ;-) but they do tend to be a little big silly
here ... and will run across the road in front of traffic ... waiting till the
last moment ... its crazy ... they have wonderful colours I think ... o0o

Yes, the animal "traffic behavior" is a whole different thing. At night, hares for example may start to run right along the road to follow the "path" lit by car headlights. But then they unfortunately loose the speed competition =(

Then reindeer are really crazy! When car approaches, they seem to think they just have to get across the road no matter what, like thinking they would not get there if car gets a change "to close the path". And this may happen even if they have been just standing well aside from the road and eating.
