Beautiful outlines on the petals, very effectively executed in monochrome :)

Thank you Valerie =) Make sure you see the other versions as well ;-) I found this challenge as a good reminder how important it is to choose right filter setting when shooting B&W. Usually red is the best choice for me, but it much depends on what one wants to achieve. I myself prefer the "white roses", but I wanted to show version in gray here, to point out how strange something like red roses may look in B&W.

nice light on the petal edges, and interesting tip for the vignetting . . .

Thank you Amaz =) I tried that vignetting also with my 84mm equivalent zoom, but then the vignetting was too sharp. So, best results comes with pretty long lenses.

Thank you very much Christine =) However, after this experiment I still recommend doing this on editor ;-) One then needs only one image (in color) and then all the same can be done much easier.

Oh I do agree with that Sami ... I know I wouldn't have the patience to go through the b/w process when I can do it after. thanks:)

This morning I tried 'Colors > Components > Channel Mixer' on GIMP with the version in color. Much more sophisticated way to get just the right tones of gray =)

Thank you Autofantasia =) I guess many cameras does not have these features, and these days many does not have color lens filters either. But no problem, all this can be done much easier on photo editors like GIMP: www.gimp.org/tutorials/Color2BW
I recommend using the last trick aka channel mixer on GIMP.
