The hamstone is very attractive, Rosa. It's the colour of honey. The architecture is as beautiful as the stone itself. Cheers, Joe

Your architectural shots from these lovely villages and towns are outstanding Rosa..............and these are no exception. The colour of the stone, the detail and the surroundings you capture it all very beautifully!

I believe that the type and color of the stone is unique or, at least, not common in my country.
Interesting !

Most of the villages in this area of South Somerset are built from Hamstone. It is still quarried, but in a much smaller way. The old quarry is now a country park.
Thank you for your kind comments Fabio.
Best wishes,
Rosa.

En estas bonitas fotografías destaca el color amarillento meloso de la piedra, aunque el edificio con torre en la foto principal sea el guapo y el arco de la puerta le supongo añoso.

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to José Manuel Polo club
The archway leads to the church Jose Manuel, which is the building with the tower. It has a large old cemetery that is very interesting to wander around. The church was started in 13th century.
