Martock Market House & Cross

Martock Market House & Cross
The hamstone Market House on Church Street was built around 1753 and restored and reopened in 1960. It is a Grade II listed building and now a community office to serve the town. The Market Cross, also known as The Pinnacle, with a fluted Tuscan column, dates from 1741. In PiP is Martock Post Office, which can be seen in the background of the main picture.

A fantastic series Rosa..............such a lovely looking place. The honey-coloured stone used for the buildings is really beautiful and seems to age very well.

Hardly any people and cars around either which is always a bonus for us photographers trying to take photos of this nature!

Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Keith Burton club
Thank you for your kind comments Keith. It's a very friendly place I always find, and they have a good cake shop! Very often these days, it's bins as well as cars! Happily there weren't many of either on the day I visited.

Fotografías de arquitectura y urbanismo que bien como totalmente verticales, sin líneas de fuga. En esta caso también ha considerar la antigüedad de los edificios. Columna elegante.

A lovely set of images, it would have been a very important area of the town in bygone times, I of course look at the estate agents and think why were they allowed to use a colour that doesn't fit in !! I hope your July has started well Rosalyn
3 years ago.
Rosalyn Hilborne club has replied to Peter Castell club
Thank you Peter. Strange actually, because the same company in Wincanton were made to change their colours and even use a wooden board, not plastic. Martock is a lovely large village though and has a very good cake shop ;-))

Peter Castell club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne club
A few simple changes can make such a difference to the overall appearance, something you would expect an estate agent to be well aware of
