Well, most of the web sites listing characters/symbols are not very specific on telling, which symbols are UTF-8 and which are in some later character coding format (e.g. UTF-16 and UTF-32). Since ipernity is still stuck with UTF-8, any of the later UTF-32 emojis will not work.

The most reliable source for UTF-8 characters that I know is:
www.w3schools.com/charsets/ref_html_utf8.asp

Even there one can find some mixed information:
www.w3schools.com/charsets/ref_emoji.asp

So, do keep eye on the page title like here:
www.w3schools.com/charsets/ref_utf_dingbats.asp

The best way still is the trial and error ;-)

P.S. For example some of these work, even when there is not said they are UTF-8 characters:

As said, just copy paste and test is the best way to find out.

Oh, oh, oh.....das PiP hatte ich vor lauter Begeisterung über die schönen Lerchen übersehen. Ich muss gestehen, so sprunghaft war ich nicht einmal damals in den 80ern, wo ich das Dia von der großen Zinne aufgenommen hatte ;-)

Und Du hast das aufgenommen auf dem Gipfel? Alle Achtung!

Nee nee, ich bin ja nicht lebensmüde! Das war nur ein Werbeplakat des örtlichen Tourismusbüros auf dem WC eines Restaurants. Und ich bin mir auch nicht sicher, ob der wirklich dort gesprungen ist, oder ob er nur reingeFotoShopt wurde. ;-)
