Dilemma!

Dilemma!
How to get the (hopefully intoxicating) pear out without destroying the bottle which was a gift from a French friend?

Try to cut it using a knife with a long narrow blade through the top ...

Thank you, Erhard. If only I was the type of person to carry around a long narrow blade! ;-)

The obvious question for me is "How did it get in there in the first place"?
Polyrus has replied to HappySnapper
Not the same way one would put a ship in a bottle ;-)
It was born there...or at least it grew up in there!

They put the growing fruit in the bottle... on the branch

I would drop my false teeth in and bite a few chunks off - should come out easy then !!!!

Polyrus has replied to Jeff Farley
It would ap(pear) your false teeth are remote controlled, Jeff. Mine are just the basic type.

I knew how the pear gets in but have no idea how to get it out short of smashing the bottle;-)

Polyrus has replied to Gudrun club
I think the bottle is smashing and I don't want to break it ;-)

Then the only solution is refilling it;-)

нитку спустите крепкую петлей в горлышко и разрежьте на части.

But I do NOT know, that is why I am asking ;-)

I hope I understand the right ...
But the pear has grown in the bottle.

Polyrus has replied to Taormina club
Indeed yes, but I would like to eat the pear ;-)

If the bottle has a seam at the bottom,
you can get it with a glass cutter.
But "single" ... in which all this is made by hand have no seam.
Then you only have to crush the pear.... but wait!
Or you let the pear in the bottle and fill only to liquid

I would not smash the bottle at all.
She is very soft and even the smallest splinters would get stuck in her.

All of the above ! :))

I have always wanted one ! And the brandy !

EDIT.... just looked at the price... it wont be this year !

Wanting the brandy for medicinal reasons, yes?
Your comment prompted me to check out the cost of these fully loaded bottles and I was utterly shocked. Not just the cost, but the realisation of how much my friend spent on my gift. I must now find a way to reciprocate.

Give this a try:
1. transfer liquid to another bottle.
2. Find a length of some what thick springy (piano) steel wire.
3. Form a loop with the wire and insert the wire loop in to the bottle.
4. The loop will expand inside the bottle, turn the bottle upside down.
5. Pull the wire loop to cut the fruit, and draw the pieces out with the wire loop.

Thank you for taking the time to provide the most clear and pragmatic suggestion, Jan. Most appreciated. If only I had a piano ;-)
I would have consumed all the liquid medication by now, only I thought that retaining some just might keep the pear alive long enough for a solution to arrive.
I have plenty of electrical wire and some brazing rods, but as yet, nothing of the in-between springy stuff. However, I intend to try and find some and follow your directions before too long.

Quite a puzzle Neil.....................but far to complicated for my little brain! Personally, I'd just drink whatever is left in this bottle and then prevail upon your French friend to sent you another..!!

Having found a website which sells these bottles full with the necessary at a cost of 65 euro, I think I will pass on your suggestion, Keith.
Jan put forward practical suggestions (above), so I'm now on the lookout for some piano wire. If you come across a suitable length, about a metre long, I would appreciate you emailing it to me!

Polyrus has replied to Josiane Dirickx club

Many thanks for dropping by, George. The photo is just a basic documentary shot and I had hoped it would prompt you to provide a simple practical solution. After all you have been to the Antarctic ;-)
