Newhaven is a small ferry port on the south coast of England, about 10 miles east of Brighton. The port and ferry service are heavily subsidized by the French local authorities in Dieppe - at the other end of the four-hour ferry crossing. This ship and M.V. Seven Sisters share duties on this four-hour crossing. One ship works the route at a time, with up to two sailings a day in each direction. I don't know what other routes they work on, when they are not on this route.

This was this first year we were down on the south coast. I don't think it had operated that year and it certainly didn't in 2010.

It is more of a three-point turn, with the bow going up the channel to the left, where the red markers are. The river is a bit wider beyond the quays, as they are built out from the banks. The channel mouth is at the upstream end of a loop that goes around Denton Island where there are a number of boatyards.
