Newhaven is a small ferry port on the south coast of England, about 10 miles east of Brighton. The port and ferry service are heavily subsidized by the French local authorities in Dieppe - at the other end of the four-hour ferry crossing. The Bridge Inn has its origins in the 18th century and was extended in the 19th. About five years ago, after a period of inactivity, it was bought by a Lewes brewery. It has since been refurbished and now looks from the outside, to be in pristine condition.
