Pelham Yard, looking towards High Street, Seaford, 21.5.2011
This image has been presented for use as a greetings card. Some street furniture, TV aerials and phone wires have been cloned out, but apart from that the overall picture is accurate. It may seem odd to feature an old junk shop, with mattresses leant against a doorway, but the array of different materials and textures is a wonderful contrast to the very neat presentation of the more up-market interior design shop across High Street.
26.9.2012 the junk shop is no more!
2013 this building is now part of the 'interior' shop opposite - facing one in this view - with a matching, tasteful decor. Shame the character was lost, but that's progress!
2021 The main building on the right is now a house. The smaller building with the awnings is now a podiatrist's practice. The grey interiors shop facing this yard is now white and unoccupied.

Seaford is a curious place. There are odd little corners and some old and interesting buildings, but it is not a 'scenic' place. The seafront has not been developed, just a few kiosks and an icecream van. We now have a shingle bank, reformed a couple of times a year, as our sea defence, rather than the old groynes and sandy beach of a few decades ago. The coast and countryside around the town make up for that though.

I thought long and hard, Phil but I don't think I've ever been there. My loss I'm sure!

We only came across it on a short break in Brighton and then moved here a couple of years later when we retired 13 years ago.
