Some work needs to be done before this gets turned into a tea-shop!
A few photos of the Saturday market at Newhaven in East Sussex. Although this has been around for some time, the Chamber of Commerce has recently given it a boost and an array of new stalls have been out on the last two Saturdays. - Not really part of the market but closely related to it!
N.B. The logo is not meant to imply any official status to the photos. I just use logos as a way of pulling together groups of pictures of the same subject or area.

2015 - this is one of the handful of stalls that still remain. There is usually a baker's stall and a butcher's mobile shop van, but very little else, especially in the colder months.

2016 - the antique shop has now closed and moved away.

It may seem odd to feature an old junk shop, with mattresses leant against a doorway, but the array of different materials and textures is a wonderful contrast to the very neat presentation of the more up-market interior design shop across High Street.
26.9.2012 the junk shop is no more!
2013 this building is now part of the 'interior' shop opposite - facing one in this view - with a matching, tasteful decor. Shame the character was lost, but that's progress!
2021 The main building on the right is now a house. The smaller building with the awnings is now a podiatrist's practice. The grey interiors shop facing this yard is now white and unoccupied.

A note for accuracy - I have digitally removed the large antique shop sign from between the two first floor windows on the left. The shop had closed and the building was for sale when the photo was taken.
I often remove intrusive street furniture, but in this case there is some decorative brickwork behind the school sign/lamp-post, that I would have difficulty in reproducing accurately and therefore authentically. So I have left things as they are!
This building has a non-residential look about it. Was it a shop or workshop in a former life?
Buildings with character from Hastings' past. These buildings illustrate why it is good to stand back and look above the modern shop front and to either side of it as well. There are often delightful period features which don't catch the eye from close-up.
I have cheated here a bit, where an estate agent's board obstructed the lower bay window of the house. It looked almost identical so I cut and pasted the upper one over the offending board.
