United

May 1st celebrates the workers who toil by both hand and brain. Let us stay united and refuse to tolerate those who seek to divide us. Have a wonderful May Day.

A Happy Bench Monday to all. I hope your day and your week are fine. (Commiserations to all LUFC supporters on losing the FA Cup semi-final this weekend.)

Magnolia

May I wish everyone a Happy Fence Friday. I have no idea why this building is called "Magnolia". Perhaps the designer was a Grateful Dead or J.J. Cale fan. Whatever, I like the symmetry.

May I wish you a Happy Bench Monday. I hope you have time to sit and think or read or watch the world or whatever it is you do to relax. Sitting doing nothing (and avoiding doom-scrolling the news) is a very useful way of coping with the stresses of the present. I hope you can manage this amidst your normal day-to-day. Have a great day and a lovely week.

Have a Happy (Fishing) Fence Friday. The long Busselton Jetty is used for walking on, fishing from, jumping in and diving from, and just enjoying being almost 2 km out in the Indian Ocean. I hope your day and your weekend are fabulous and calm. Ours promises to be wet and windy with Tropical Cyclone Narelle bearing down on the Central and Lower West of WA. I hope she gets bored and calms down before she reaches this far south.

My reason for visiting Albany was to see the “Lighting the Sound” installation by the Finnish light artist, Kari Kola in conjunction with elders of the Menang people of the area. The lights were along Frenchman Bay Road and viewing was from the area around the Anzac Peace Park and the foreshore of the town. Thus the lights seen here are about 5km from the viewers. These colours are from the first of three weekend showings. As I understand it, weekend 2 and 3 are/were different. Strangely, the best picture we took was not from any of our three Canon DSLR cameras nor from my 40MP FujifilmX-T5 but from a humble old iPhone. Go figure, hey?

Have the best Happy Fence Friday you can. Take care of you and everyone you meet (even if you don't really like them. Just pretend for a short while; it won't hurt you.) Have a great day and a fine weekend.
