Rain, rain, rain. I was going to venture out first thing but the weather was very inclement. I’m also having needles forced into each eyeball this morning - injections to alleviate my macular degeneration which I need every five or six weeks. Ouch! It’s not a painful process, merely very uncomfortable, but it messes up my vision for a few hours afterwards; partly because of the injection but also because of the drops which are intended to numb the eyeball. It’s a bit of a bugger.
Anyway, because of the above I had to resort to taking a picture in the house. Hence the bathroom mirror and the towel ring. I hope World Photography Day inspires you and that you enjoy the results from everyone on Ipernity or elsewhere.

I love this minimalist photo. Having a mirror reflection with almost nothing in the reflection makes it feel almost like a window instead of a mirror.
I'm very glad your eye issue and the rain didn't keep you from celebrating our special day. (I'm glad they can help you with the macular degeneration - but I'm sorry it's so uncomfortable and so often!
I notice that you have a smattering of minimalist images in your photos you share on ipernity. What draws you to take that type photo, as you have here?
Old Owl club has replied to raingirl clubWith the minimalism, I like simplicity and emptiness, negative space. However there is a constant war between what I want to create and what is actually before me, hence only "a smattering of minimalist images". I'd love to make images like those of Michael Kenna, but I don't have the patience and tend to just press the shutter rather too impulsively (and perhaps compulsively). Still, I love making pictures whatever they are - some good, some bad, most just OK, I print them and look at them in photobooks and on the wall and they make me feel good.
raingirl club has replied to Old Owl clubOh, we are our own worst critics. You have some very wonderful photos. I'm really glad you print yours.
(I could come up with a prize for the prize, if you want *smile*)
A very appropriate photo, when it's raining. Three Aussie images so far to start WPD posting this year...
Old Owl club has replied to Gillian Everett clubThanks for the sympathy. I've been having the treatment for three years now; it will never cure the MD, just stop it getting worse.

Congratulations on being first
Wünsche noch einen schönen Nachmittag, liebe Grüße Güni :))
And thanks for your comment experienced by yourself with gear downgrading …… all the best for you!
Old Owl club has replied to malona clubMy sympathies about the eyes - I'm just getting over cataract surgery myself, which I found very bizarre - lying there while they cut into your eyeball - and at the same time they had the radio playing... Wham (!) "wake me up before you go-go" will never sound the same again. I bought myself a camera once it was all over - as a reward.
I very much know that feeling of trying to wring an image out of your everyday surroundings, thinking there's nothing there you haven't seen a thousand times - and then - a surprised triumph when you find you can still find something new among it all.
Old Owl club has replied to Jim Kerslake clubHad my cataracts done last year. Made an enormous difference to the world. Colours I'd forgotten existed. Wham! singles unfortunately still do.
YOU AND ME BOOTH JOHN DEAR WE GOT TO FIND THE LIGHT EVEEN WHEN IT IS A LITTLE HIDDEN.

HUGSSSSS
however a terrific and well thought out image, well done! hope things have improved again by now!
I really feel for you - what a horrible thing to go through. Even the thought of needles in the eyes makes me shudder - I couldn't even put in contact lenses!! I really hope the treatment keeps on working for you. Your vision is the most precious thing for everyone - and especially for a photographer.
A great idea and image for World Photography Day.
Best wishes Carol
A wonderful and interesting picture, which I like very much!
Very nice composition, and a great recognition of World Photography day!
Great meaning in the blank mirror frame!
Best Wishes, (very late) HWPD, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!
Peter
Unfortunately, I don't have a solution myself, which is why I'm enjoying exploring those of the other partiipants.
PS: Meine Frau hat auch eine Makuladegeneration. Uns wurde bisher immer gesagt, da kann man nichts machen. Werde mal deine Nadelbehandlung checken, auch wenn sie wohl super unangenehm ist.
I wish you all the best with your eyes. The treatment you described definitely doesn't sound pleasant.
Congratulations!
