Rain, rain, rain. I was going to venture out first thing but the weather was very inclement. I’m also having needles forced into each eyeball this morning - injections to alleviate my macular degeneration which I need every five or six weeks. Ouch! It’s not a painful process, merely very uncomfortable, but it messes up my vision for a few hours afterwards; partly because of the injection but also because of the drops which are intended to numb the eyeball. It’s a bit of a bugger. Anyway, because of the above I had to resort to taking a picture in the house. Hence the bathroom mirror and the towel ring. I hope World Photography Day inspires you and that you enjoy the results from everyone on Ipernity or elsewhere.

For World Photography Day 2022. It was miserable outdoors so I spent the day looking for inspiration inside for my photograph for the day. I've never really used my phone camera or learnt how to use it properly. Today was an opportunity to learn and practise.

For World Photography Day, August 19 2023. Murray Street, Perth WA. "And suddenly it's evening" by Salvatore Quasimodo Everyone stands alone at the heart of the world pierced by a ray of sun: and suddenly it’s evening. (Originally in Italian: "Ed è subito sera" Salvatore Quasimodo Ognuno sta solo sul cuor della terra trafitto da un raggio di sole ed è subito sera.)

HAPPY WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY 2024. Each day I walk around the part of Mandurah where I live, usually with my phone camera but also occasionally with my Fuji. I often take photos of the same things each time: Town Beach, the marina, the estuary which runs through the town, the small Mandjar Bay which is part of the old town, shops and cafes and such things. Nothing that I photograph is special, but everything is special to me because it is the place in which my wife and I chose to live when we arrived in Australia in the year 2000. By photographing it I keep it in my heart and mind at all times. Soppy, I know, but who cares? Ipernity has welcomed me, too. I like the idea that World Photography Day is an opportunity for all of us (or as many as wish to participate) to join together on the same day. This picture is of the Sugar Lips mobile cafe which sits in the car park at the Silver Sands beach each morning. Many people pass here on walks or their journeys to work and get a coffee. Just over the hill there, where the couple are looking, is the Indian Ocean. As I’ve said before, it might not be a perfect place, but it’s as close to paradise as an old reprobate like me is ever going to get. Have a delightful day, won’t you.
