Looking Up - World Photography Day 2025

Here in Oregon, we have had a very warm summer and lots of sun, but the last few days we got to enjoy pleasant overcast skies and a bit of rain. So as the clouds have started to fade today, I chose to look up for our event.
It was my daughter who taught me to do so, starting with the moon. Others would not be noticing, and she would be gazing upward in fascination.
So this is in homage to her - returning from an outing, I remembered to look up.

Endless fascination to be had looking up at the sky in all it's moods Laura.
We could all take a lesson from your daughter. As a child we would look up and see the 'faces' and objects in the clouds, - something we often lose sight of later in life. Many of us like to watch and photograph a beautiful sunset or a full moon and what could be better than a deep velvety sky full of twinkling stars on a cloudless night, but a great sky makes a great photo as you have proved here.

Thank you! And yes, I also am done with summer weather. Well, not 100%, but what I do like is shifting weather. My favorite being when it rains, sunshines, is windy, maybe even a bit of hail, all in one moderate temperature day. *smile*

Thanks! We more often have overcast cloudly days, with some pleasant puffy cloud days, but in the springtime we can get some very dramatic clouds - however with the hills around me they are harder to photograph. I imagine you might have flatter areas so get a full sky view to photograph.

Patrice Karst's children's book, The Invisible String, is a wonderful resource on this topic. Perhaps you are aware of this? It is also a valuable resource for adults, offering guidance in various life circumstances, including grief.
