Well, funny you should say that, Pam; it was originally a photo of a row of houses in Scarborough, just at the top of the cliff and overlooking North Bay. You are perspicacious as always!

Other places such as Eastbourne and Brighton and many other "seaside" towns indeed like Scarborough have this Victorian elegance ! The rage for sea bathing made for a wonderful architectural splurge !

Thank you, Steve. You've caught me. That was the intention when I worked on the picture. I think I got close to the empty loneliness of Hopper, but wonder whether that was wishful thinking on my part.
