Thanks for the nice comments everyone! I've had my eye on this wonderful line of sycamores for a long time, and finally went to make photo.

love it Ned.........it's nearly the school holidays and I hope to play around with paper some more in my cameras........multigrade paper and filters on the lenses, and try this idea. Does this increase shadow detail and get closer to HDR (which doesnt do it for me I have realised). Whats your thinking re overexposure...........just picking your brains. Graham

Hi Graham, It seems to increase shadow detail and DR. The negatives look fairly low contrast... I haven't tried contact printing any yet, but I'd expect to use a higher contrast filter if printing onto VC paper. I recently wrote about this process on f295, here's the link:

Over/Under process

Definitely give it a try, you'll be surprised at the nice warm colors on the negs. I was tempted to post the negative of this one.. it has a nice color. The other thing is to give the negs a good presoak in water to help avoid uneven development. You can see it is a problem in some of my examples... you really want it to hit the water all at the same time. Have fun!
