Warsaw sundial (2)
| |
|
This curious object is a sundial. The upper "knob" on both faces is for 22 December to 22nd June, the lower for the 22nd June to the 22nd December. If you zoom in, you can see curved lines and a pinprick of light on the bronze plate. The dot is on the line for 9.30am, which is when I took the photo.

A pale consumption
| |
|
From the churchyard of St Leonard's, Flamstead.
"In memory of Elizabeth Burchmore, who departed this life 1st April in the year 1797. In the 33rd year of her age. A pale consumption gave the fatal blow, the stroke was certain but the effect was slow, with wasting pains death found me long oppres'd, Pitty'd my sighs and kindly gave me rest."

I was drawn to the undulating shapes of this shopping centre roof... until I was moved-on by a busy-body security guard.
