Staunton Country Park

The view towards the lake. Where I am standing to take the photo is where Leigh Park House used to stand. It was demolished in the late 1950s and the land was given to the people of Leigh Park in perpetuity. This brickwork is all that is left of the house.

Taken in 16:9 format, so probably best viewed large.

I only visited the park for about an hour and a half.........as it was too hot for me to stay longer. As you can see the grounds were almost deserted, but it was nice to get out and stretch my legs for a while ;-)

I wonder if the gardens were landscaped by Capability Brown? The house was probably demolished because no-one could afford the upkeep.
I'm surprised that you manage to last an hour and a half in the heat. I usually manage about 10 minutes. ;-))

The estate has a interesting history and lots of owners, who all had a go at the landscaping and building, from what I understand.

I was lucky that It was quite breezy and there are lots trees providing shade, but even then I'd had enough after 90 mins and jumped on the bus home ;-)

Das ist schön,dass du etwas rausgekommen bist lieber Keith,leider ist es bei der HItze schwieriger länger unterwegs zu sein,das geht mir auch so !!

Yes, it was nice to stretch my legs for a bit, but 90 minutes was enough for me..!!

A classic English landscape park, beautifully framed by what's left of the house. The lawn shows how hot and dry it is. Hats off to you for sticking out out for 1,5 hours!
