Landing Craft, Tank

LCT 7084 had a crew of 12 men when it carried allied tanks and troops to Normandy during the D-Day landings.
This landing craft is part of the collections of the National Museum of the Royal Navy and is currently on display adjacent to the D-Day museum in Southsea.
Sadly, the location isn't good for photography, so this was the best viewpoint I could find.

I cannot imagine it was a comfortable craft especially if sea conditions were not the best,
So many of these were based and some lost at Slapton Sands ( a link you may be interested in) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exercise_Tiger
Keith Burton club has replied to Roger (Grisly) clubI'm glad you like the photo and the surroundings too.
Thanks for sharing the link........what an absolute disaster it all was and covered up at the time for obvious reasons.........but why it continued to be covered up after was wall, I don't know :-((
I've served on a couple of amphibious warships that carry landing craft and can confirm that they're uncomfortable to travel in......although I wasn't being shot at at the time!
During the Falklands war, I was on HMS Fearless and we lost one of our landing craft and several of the crew to enemy action, which was a very sad time!
Keith Burton club has replied to Annemarie clubVery interesting and well composed picture.

Keith Burton club has replied to J.Garcia clubKeith Burton club has replied to Ajophotog clubI've been trying for a decent shot of this for ages, but there are normally loads of people around and dozens of cars parked up next to it. At the moment that road is closed due to the sea defences being built and so I took a chance and drove down for a look :-))
