A Wet and Muddy Horse

A Wet and Muddy Horse
Captured this morning in a field adjacent to the Mill Pond at Langstone Harbour, Hampshire. Best viewed large!

My first outing with a camera for about a week. It was very windy and freezing cold, but good to get out in the fresh air..!!

If you have time, please check out the image in the PiP. Thanks.

A regular sight at the moment they must be eating as much mud as grass, even the fields at the Remount Barracks near Melton Mowbray are not in their usual pristine condition, most of the horses have coats on to reduce the amount of grooming needed

Thanks for these comprehensive comments Peter. Much appreciated. These horses have access 24/7 to a large barn with food and hay etc in, so they must be quite happy to be outside.

Thanks Güni............it was really nice to get out.

Glad you like the photo and these lovely comments are always appreciated. The horses have access to 24/7 to a dry barn so they must be quite happy to be outside even in the wet and mud..!!

Enjoy the rest of you day...........best wishes, Keith.

Ha, ha............that would certainly freeze it to death TOZ. The horses have access 24/7 to a large barn, so must be happy outside, even if it is wet and muddy. They certainly look healthy and well fed.

Main image clearly shows how much rain it has been having and the PIP is amazing with the hairs from the manes.
We are waiting for more exterior images..good sign Keith

People care more for the look than horses ;-) seems the hair in the pip is from the checked one?

But - if they are too long in a mud paddock it is not good for the health of a horse. No dry spot to lay down, mud and water is not good for the hooves...
On the other hand - a few hours out is better than all day in the stable... not only true for horses
:-))) Get well soon!!

Yes, I don't expect the horses care at all about how they look...........and why would they? They have access to a dry barn 24/7 and they seem well fed and content.

Thanks for dropping in and commenting oHo..........much appreciated.

I'm feeling pretty much OK now, except for a residual cough. Thank you!

They are looking for the best grasses that might grow on the soaking wetland. The bad weather has made them look like bums...

That would make sense.........but they have a barn nearby and seem well fed and content. I don't think they care how they look :-)))

A nice capture of both the horses, muddy but good looking!
I like the PiP too, showing the hairs from their manes and making a lovely contrast.
Your first outing has been definitely rewarded, Keith! ;-)

Die Pferde hatten im Gegensatz zu dir einen dicken Pelz. Allerdings der Tisch scheint nicht sehr reichlich gedeckt :-)

Yes, but I didn't leave bits of my coat hanging on the barbed wire :-)))

The horses are actually well fed and looked after.........they have access to a nearly barn 24/7 if they feel the need to shelter.

Thanks for your visit and comments Leo.

Rough and ready horses! Glad they have shelter.

The photo is delightful with the far horse almost being the opposite of the close one. Really glad you braved the cold!

Diese robusten Pferde können gut draußen leben. Außerdem finden sie Schutz. Nach dem nächsten Regen sind sie wieder sauber ;-)
