Curlew

Curlew
Captured at Farlington Marshes nature reserve, near Portsmouth, Hampshire. Not as sharp as I would have liked, but a decent enough record shot. I rarely see these so this was quite a treat.

Edit (at 4:30 pm). I've just looked up the Curlews conservation status in the UK and sadly they are considered to be in serious decline in the UK at the moment (Conservation Status Red), which is such a shame :-(

That was lucky Keith! I don't think it needs to be sharper, it's a beautiful picture!
I love the colour and detail on the ground, and good framing as always.

Thanks Ronald, glad you like it.

It was quite an icy morning but along the edge of the marshes, it had mostly melted by the time we got there.

Yes I can see what you mean. Curlews are quite plentiful at Fremington Quay - a place not far from me, but as I don't go out anymore, I can't see them.

Thanks Jenny. Such a shame you can't get out to see them :-(

Bravo Keith pour ce cliché. Je n'ai jamais vu cet oiseau, Tu as beaucoup de chance de l'avoir photographié. (Il ressemble un peu à une bécasse qui aurait courbé son bec)

They can be quite difficult to spot, Keith, and this one seems well and truly camouflaged. My best shot of one was taken in Dundee.

Thanks for commenting Amelia.......I was lucky to get this shot, I had lots of others I had to delete.

Du hast den Vogel sehr schön aufgenommen, Keith! Bei mehr Licht und niedrigeren ISO-Werten wären die Details noch besser.

I couldn't agree more Wilhelm. My 100-400mm lens needs really good light to get decent shots, so it's not brilliant at this time of year.

The processing software I use now has a superb AI based noise reduction and sharpening plug-in which is looking really promising.

Thank you Roland................I don't see them as much as I used to, they're becoming quite rare in the south of England.
