Public Footpath

Public Footpath
Taken in November last year at Idsworth, Nr Finchdean in Hampshire. Some of you may recognise the little church in the background from my Fence Friday image last week.

Have a good day y'all :-)

Nouchetdu38, Sylvie Coeffic, trester88, Aschi "Freestone" and 15 other people have particularly liked this photo

I like the focus on the sign and the soft focus on the scene beyond. The sky is beautiful.

The sky is very well captured Keith and I love the metal sign. The church looks so pretty in the distance. A very well framed and beautiful picture.

Really interesting Keith, left me wondering why there? Maybe in times past it was a private chapel on a large estate for family and estate workers.

As far as I can tell, the church originally formed part of an early Anglo Saxon village up on the downs. By the end of the 14th century the village had been decimated and the area ploughed over (probably because of the plague). The chapel remained however, and has been there ever since.

I certainly recognise the church. A footpath sign that might have seemed very functional and incongruous when erected but which with weathering has begun to blend in nicely!
