Pool of Sorrow....

07 Jan 2016 12 8 398
Sight and Sound Many of us are Linda Ronstadt fans so here is another one from her that might be her first Spanish song we have featured in this group. This song is about a young woman in love and it is set in a church yard where she is rejected by her love. I am imagining there was a little pool there and under the sad moonlight the lilies shone blood red for the young woman's broken heart (I'm getting dramatic here.) I think my photo is sort of sad looking and this is a sad song so there is my tenuous link (and I'm stickin' to it ;) From her second Spanish album "Más canciones" (1991) here is: Live: El Crucifijo De Piedra or El Crucifijo De Piedra (The Crucifix Of Stone) Or from the album: El Crucifijo De Piedra Linda Ronstadt on finally being able to finally make a Spanish album: Latin Music USA Lyrics in English: here

My Shadow

01 Nov 2015 19 21 521
From "A Child's Garden of Verses" by Robert Louis Stevenson (published 1913) I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me, And what can be the use of him is more than I can see. He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head; And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed. The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow-- Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow; For he sometimes shoots up taller like an india-rubber ball, And he sometimes goes so little that there's none of him at all. He hasn't got a notion of how children ought to play, And can only make a fool of me in every sort of way. He stays so close behind me, he's a coward you can see; I'd think shame to stick to nursie as that shadow sticks to me! One morning, very early, before the sun was up, I rose and found the shining dew on every buttercup; But my lazy little shadow, like an arrant sleepy-head, Had stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep in bed.
