The red tips of the cactus

The red tips of the cactus
You can just make out the orange/red tips indicating that soon I'll be blessed with flowers.

Pam J, Fred Fouarge, Janet Brien, Pat Del and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Don't worry John - I sit and admire them every day, several times a day in fact. I also have two cameras on my trolley at all times - just in case I need a camera to capture a moment in time!!!

Oh I don't have any prickly pears here Andy - but I do remember my parents bringing a prickly cactus from Spain way back in the early '60's which is still in my garden - okay it outgrew the pot my mother put it in, so my brother planted it in the garden. My garden is very overgrown unfortunately - well I say I've devoted the garden to wildlife which sounds better - but my neighbour who lives at the bottom of my garden and so walks up the path of my garden, says that she's seen the cactus still there!!!! Thank you for your lovely comment too.

Oui, ça me taquine avec de petits points comme celui-ci au bout de leurs feuilles, alors je regarde chaque jour pour voir si les fleurs ont poussé.

Oh JENNY! The light here is so beautiful! The shape of the cactus is lovely, and the little red tips that will soon be flowers are so much fun to see. How exciting!!!

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful comments about my tree pictures. You really understand how I felt about losing so many of our trees on the hill, and then the joy of having things recover. I also appreciated your enthusiasm about me doing an expose on the big old oak tree that was once a tree house. I think it would be something good to do and would make me feel like I've given it the proper respect. Even if I had nothing to do with the reason it died, it just seems like it should be honored anyway. I'm glad you can understand how trees are like another kind of people...I didn't used to feel like that until I got older and saw things from another perspective. Anyway, I'll put it on my list of interesting photo projects to work on!

(I'll reply to your lovely comments about my Fritillary pictures tomorrow!) :)

Yes I completely understand your feelings for things that years ago you wouldn't have thought twice about. Since my brush with death (three times!!!!) I now appreciate so much more. I never used to think about the seagulls on my roof - now I'm going to miss them because they felt safe using my chimneys as a place to bring up their young. I absolutely love watching the wild flowers grow in my garden, I rarely buy potted flowers anymore - it's not the same - they're not naturally grown, what I mean is they have been grown forcefully in glasshouses. I really which however, that I could get around enough to do a bit more gardening though.
