Dickkie's Boatyard Winch, Tarbert

Dickkie's Boatyard Winch, Tarbert
Across the harbour Tarbert Castle Ruins with the town below again form a backdrop to another archive image.

Dickkie's Boatyard Winch, Tarbert,
This winch stands in mute testimony to Dickie's Boatyard which was demolished in 2010. The winch drew so much power that the lights throughout Tarbert dimmed when it was in operation

Günter Klaus, E. Adam G., Erhard Bernstein, trester88 and 37 other people have particularly liked this photo

Hi Udo, the winch is not from ship but from a boatyard the stood on this site,

In these days of robots, computers, micro this and that, it is good to be reminded of the heavy industry this country was built on. Have a good weekend, Roger.

Thank you Phil, an even larger piece of machinery preserved next to it, and a child's playground full of exercise equipment instead of swings and roundabouts all of which is very well used.
