Thank you Annalia, this landscape was shaped by iron age and Roman lead workings, Several large ingots of lead from the Mendips have been recovered from the region, one dated AD 49 is now in a local museum, but I agree a touch of hobbit land.

Thank you Deborah, many date from Medieval and Roman times but the majority started to be built following an act of parliament in 1801 and were completed by 1820, they are almost all built of limestone.
