Amboy desert rain (#1015).
Taken from the same spot of the preceding pictures of a rain storm, looking just a little bit north (and east). I vaguely recall seeing a rainbow about this time – just above the relatively close mountains on the right, there seems to be a hint of a rainbow.
I’m labeling these rain pictures ‘Amboy’ because that’s the only known spot in this area. The very small set of buildings that are Amboy would be off the left side of this picture; the valley appears to have no name, but there are two named dry lakes in this picture – Bristol and Cadiz. The old national highway Route 66 runs along the far side of this valley, relatively close to the base of the distant mountains. The mountains that are visible in the center of the picture are about 15 miles away.
