California, late Spring

California, late Spring
Taken at 1:30PM on US 50 on May 26, 2019 near Echo Summit (7,377 feet). It was snowing lightly and fairly windy; earlier in the day chains had been required to cross the summit. I couldn't find if this is the latest for chain control in this area, but I suspect it might be. I know that for South Lake Tahoe, which is much lower in elevation, the high for the day was 14 degrees (F) lower than normal.

This is a quick shot from my smartphone, better shots will be coming up later taken with my camera.

kiiti, Fred Fouarge have particularly liked this photo

I went over Donner on May 15th, in heavy rain--but my choice of day was nonetheless fortunate. There was chain control on the 16th!
