Astoria wharf/trolley (#1293)

Astoria wharf/trolley (#1293)
Per the link below, this was initially a shed for dryng and mending nets. Per the guide on the trolley (see later pictures), this later became an artists studio but was damaged in a windstorm that took off the top floor and damaged the access dock (see the picture in the link). www.old300.org/ahistory.html

I must get up to the Coast Guard Museum in Astoria one day. My dad gave them some WWII things from his service days. This image fooled me - at first glance I guessed somewhere in Louisiana! What a dreamy artist's studio it must have been, watching ships...hearing the water day and night... Lovely shot, Don.

Is that a train in the left background? Oh, guess it must be a barge or container ship.

It's a container ship, I'm standing on the old railroad tracks. The river is about 4 miles wide right here. I agree, being out there would be mystical, like being on the water but not having to shift balance constantly.

I didn't make it into the museum, but it looked to be very well done from what I could see through the windows.
