CA 49 Coulterville (#0532)

A respite from the horror of CA-49... CA-49 runs through the western foothill towns of the Sierras. Much of the route is described as the Gold Country highway due to the fact that it connects the towns of the 49er gold seekers. Because of that history connection, the road has very heavy tourist traffic and I have avoided it as much as possible. On this trip I discovered that there is one section, between Moccasin and Mariposa, going through Coulterville, that has very low traffic and is a pleasure to drive.
