Parowan Gap petroglyphs (1803)

Parowan Gap petroglyphs (1803)
Petroglphys at Parowan Gap. When I fist visited these in 2009 I was amazed at the number and extensiveness of the petroglyphs. On this January visit it was too cold to really spend time marveling at them.

It looks like there are a lot of recent fractures in that rock. (And by recent, I mean something that might be last week or might be decades ago.) I wonder if the damage seen on the BLM signs spills over into the petroglyphs themselves.

There's wasn't any sign that the idiots who defaced the plaques had harmed the petroglyphs. Almost everywhere that there is petroglyphs there's signs of later graffiti, but usually that seems to be from the late 1800's and early explorers/settlers. Seldom do I see anything that looks really recent.
